Type Locality and Naming
Ferozabad Gr – lower formation. Holotype section: Kharari Nai, Mor Range (35K/16. 13 km WNW of Khuzdar). Author: Fatmi et al., 1990. Reference section: None.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandy limestone. Anwar et al. (1991) described the lithology to consist of limestone, dolomite, sandstone, siltstone and shale in the type locality. The sandstone is grey, light grey, purplish brown, weathering brownish grey, thin to medium bedded, fine to medium grained, well sorted, quartzose, micaceous, gritty, cross bedded, fragmentary and friable. The limestone is grey to brownish grey, weathering brown, laminated to thin bedded, flaggy, micritic and unfossiliferous. The siltstone is greenish grey to brownish grey and weathers brown. The shale is black to greenish grey, weathering brownish grey, sandy, soft flaky to hard fissile and platy, micaceous and silty at places. The lower part is dominated by limestone, whereas sandstone with marl/shale intercalations forms the upper part.
Thickness: 248-824 m. More than 464 m in the type section, more than 248 m in Ferozabad section, and 824 m in the Lukh Rud section.

Not exposed.
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by Malikhore Fm (transitional).
Regional extent
The formation is exposed in southern Axial Belt, and extends up to west of Khuzdar town.
